Question

Can someone tell me how can I make a bullet proof JRSC kit? I am only interested in the stock setting @ 6psi

From what I have heard it seems besides the kit, this is what you need:

1) J&S UltraSafeguard
2) Higher flow fuel pump (Walbro)
3) a/f, fpr, boost gauges

What about injectors and/or anything else? will I still suffer from partial throttle bogginess?

Thanks in ahead!

If you don't want to get into Hondata or anything too expensive there are a few other options. I would suggest you look into Zip's SMC and a set of DC or DSM injectors. It is new but sounds good. If you don't get the SMC you should at least get the JR Map mod. The Map mod makes the transition real smooth. BTW - The J&S gives great piece of mind!

I would add hondata intake gasket (depends on how cold your area is), colder plugs, water wetter mixed with the coolant. Timing light, compression tester, just to make sure everything is ticking good. Maintenance = bulletproof.

bgjohn:

I heard that by having the J&S you won't need to get JR Map Mod. Am I wrong?

funky:

I was wondering about that Intake gasket; so I guess its really essential for a bulletproof kit, especially since we have cold winters here in chicago. I knew about the colder plugs and water wetter definitley seems like a good idea. But can you please explain what you mean by by timing light and compression tester (for my pistons?, I only have 40k on engine)?

Thanks guys!

Compression tester can be had for 20-30 bucks at Sears, just to make sure your not losing compression. Timing light just to check your timing and also play around with timing and fuel settings. A degree here, up the fuel here, just to play around and see how your engine reacts to certain settings. As far as the Hondatat gasket, the reason why I said it depends on where your at is because with the gasket the coolant will not pass to the manifold as much and there have been cases of throttle bodies sticking in cold weather. But I'm in Phoenix. Coldest it gets here is 30's if that. But right now, sun is out and it's a nice 83 degrees.

I am using them both together. Wrom what I can tell the map mod still does something. Honestly I don't know about the newer versions of the J&S so that may be a feature. If I were you I would get the SMC, Injectors, and tune that with the J&S. Of course at somepoint you would want to get it dyno tuned. But you could just get by with J&S tuning.

You want a setup that will cause you no problems?

All you need extra in my opinion is the JR MAP MOD and a high flow fuel pump. You can pick up a BTC and a Cartech 2025 for some added security and tunability but they are not necessary. With the other nifty electronic stuff coming out you can get all of these parts used for around the cost of a new BTC from JR.

Everything else is only necessary if you want to squeeze every last tenth of a horsepower out of the 6psi kit.

I've run my kit for 50000 miles and have been fine. Only thing that caused me any headaches was the pressure switch going bad which is replaced by the map mod anyway.

So, what do you need to slap a JR kit on and have great results for a long long time....a JR MAP MOD and a high flow fuel pump and thats about it. A boost gauge and air fuel ratio or fuel pressure gauge are also good things to have.

Wink

Thanks guys. Very good information. It gives me peace of mind to hear this coming from people who have had the kit for 50K miles!
